Healing Olga's Way

About The Practitioner

Olga King (nee Varlamova) was born and raised in Soviet Russia in a military family, lived in and traveled to many places, from Belarus to Eastern Siberia and from the Black Sea to the far reaches above the Arctic Circle.  She had a rich childhood with enough experiences and stories to fill a novel.  After graduating at the top of her class in high school, Olga attended medical school in Moscow where she graduated with an M.D. degree in Pediatrics. Shortly after, she moved to the United States, landing first in New York City where she would learn the English language and begin working in the Bio-Medical Research field as a Research Scientist for over 20 years.  She has been published in over a dozen scientific papers.

But, her heart has always drifted back towards the unfulfilled childhood dream of helping others.  And, that passion for helping others was a motivating factor her decision to attend the Oregon School of Massage in Portland, Oregon and finishing her LMT licensing at the Texas Healing Arts Institute in Austin, Texas. After a 20 year career in Bio-Medical research, she finally decided to follow her heart and true calling in helping people and now works full-time as a Massage Therapist. She maintains her private practice and works at Myo Massage near downtown Austin, TX.

Olga has had a great success in the sport of ultra running and being a member of the best U.S. teams in the sport for over 12 years with variety of sponsors. Her experience includes 20 marathon finishes, over 120 ultra-marathon races with 20 100 mile races in the mountains, (including top-10 at Western States 100 and a Hardrock 100 finish), wins, top placing and course records in competitive fields all over United States from 50 km to 100 mile races, and various shorter distance races. Olga also has a vast background in backpacking long trails for 30 years in a fast manner, including but not limited to the Wonderland Trail in Washington (93 M in 3 days), Tahoe Rim Trail (172 M in 6 days), and the Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail (460 miles) in 15 days.

Olga is an RRCA certified Running Coach (with great success of over 100 clients in all distances) and a NCSF Personal Trainer (and a participant in Body Figure Competition herself), as well as a certified Power Vinyasa Yoga instructor with over 15 years of Baptiste and Bikram yoga practice experience.

Due to her medical background and high level curriculum in athletic background, Olga is extremely knowledgeable in Anatomy and Physiology and is skilled not only in traditional Swedish Relaxation massage with a lot of nurturing, but, moreover, in Deep Tissue technique, Sports Massage, and Pain Management. Her expertise also includes Pregnancy massage and being a certified Chiropractor  assistant.
